Eagles Re-Sign Dallas Goedert to One-Year, $7 Million Deal
Eagles Re-Sign Dallas Goedert to One-Year, $7 Million Deal
Dallas Goedert is staying in Philadelphia.
The Eagles and their veteran tight end have agreed to a one-year, $7 million deal to keep Goedert in midnight green for a ninth season, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. At least $4.25 million is guaranteed through a signing bonus, giving the 31-year-old a well-deserved payday after a career-best 2025 campaign.
The deal lands just before Monday's void-date deadline — a date the Eagles had pushed back multiple times over the past week to buy time for negotiations. Had the two sides not reached an agreement, Philadelphia would have absorbed a staggering $20.49 million in dead money against the 2026 salary cap. Instead, Howie Roseman gets his guy back on a team-friendly number.
Why This Deal Makes Sense
Goedert is coming off the best statistical season of his career. In 15 games last year, he posted 60 receptions for 591 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns — tied for second among all NFL players. That kind of red-zone production from the tight end position is rare, and the Eagles simply could not afford to lose it.
At $7 million, this is a significant pay cut from the $10 million Goedert earned last season. But the structure works for both sides. Goedert gets to stay in the only NFL home he's ever known — eight years and counting as an Eagle — while Philadelphia preserves cap flexibility heading into a pivotal offseason.
The A.J. Brown Factor
The timing of this deal is worth watching. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles' situation with A.J. Brown has not changed based on the Goedert news. A trade involving the All-Pro wideout is still viewed as inevitable at some point — likely after June 1, when the dead-cap hit drops from $43.4 million to $16.3 million.
If Brown is eventually moved, Goedert's target share would increase substantially. He'd go from being the Eagles' second or third option in the passing game to potentially the top target for Jalen Hurts, alongside DeVonta Smith. That's a role Goedert has shown he can handle, particularly in the red zone.
The Tight End Room Takes Shape
Goedert's return cements a tight end group that's been quietly assembled over the past week. The Eagles already re-signed Grant Calcaterra on a one-year deal and added blocking specialist Johnny Mundt from Jacksonville. Goedert leads, Calcaterra provides pass-catching depth, and Mundt shores up the run game — an area where the tight end position fell short in 2025.
New offensive coordinator Sean Mannion inherits a tight end who knows this system inside and out. Goedert has been in Philadelphia since 2018, longer than almost anyone else on the roster. That continuity matters, especially with a new play-caller installing his concepts this offseason.
What's Next for the Eagles
With Goedert locked in, the Eagles can turn their full attention to the remaining holes on the roster. Edge rusher remains the most critical need after losing Jaelan Phillips to Carolina on a $120 million deal. Philadelphia has added Arnold Ebiketie on a one-year deal, but the pass rush still needs a primary threat. Talks with the Vikings about edge rusher Jonathan Greenard remain ongoing.
Safety is another position that needs attention after Reed Blankenship signed with Houston. And with nine draft picks — including four in the top 100 and the No. 23 overall selection — Roseman has plenty of ammunition to address those needs in late April.
For now, the most important thing is this: Dallas Goedert is an Eagle. Again. The Super Bowl champion, the franchise's all-time leader in touchdown receptions by a tight end, the quiet engine of this offense — he's back for one more run. At $7 million, that's a steal.
